Who is d.a. &
associates?
You will be far more aware of our clients
than you are of us. And that's as it should be. Nevertheless, here follows a brief look at
us.
A fully accredited advertising agency, d.a.
& associates was formed in 1989 in Christchurch and traded until recently as Donald
Advertising (in recent years referred to as just
DA).
Founder and director, Les Donald, had held a
number of senior positions with international agencies before surrendering to the call of his
home town. As d.a. & associates grew, it became apparent to Les that in order to offer
his clients the best advice and service (covering the full gambit of above and below the line
advertising), he would have to look further afield than the rather small creative/strategic
pool of talent available in
Christchurch.
He decided to form working relationships
with some of New Zealands creative/strategic
thinkers.
The first campaign under this new
arrangement was a spectacular success (it is one of our Classic Case Studies which we will
show you when we talk).
There was another advantage too. By keeping Head Office tight and efficient, d.a. &
associates clients were not only getting the best New Zealand brains working for them, they
were only paying for them on an assignment basis. Les no longer had to keep expensive
creative wandering around waiting for the next
campaign.
One such associate is Len Potts. Although
Len spends a few months each year talking and consulting at corporate retreats around the
globe (Boston, Budapest, London, Amsterdam, Milan etc), when he is in New Zealand, he is
available exclusively to the clients of d.a. & associates.
You may recall some of Lens work: Strategy and creative for: Toyota (Crumpy and Scotty
Hilux, the Brucie van series and Welcome to our World) TVCs; Beaurepaires (Vince Martin);
Sailing Away for the first Americas Cup Challenge; Bank of New Zealand Who Are You series and
so on, plus a couple of election campaigns which still make him
shudder.
This collaboration (and others) means that
d.a. & associates offers its clients truly world class strategy and creative
opportunities.
Les Donalds special interest is media, a
conflicting and confusing area now with the enormous changes of the last few years. Many
